A BUSY Saturday saw Swindon's high streets filled with shoppers wearing masks while leisure centres and gyms welcomed their first customers since lockdown began.

Police patrols and inSwindon street ambassadors were on hand to help town centre visitors if they needed help adjusting to the new rules which require face coverings to be worn in shops and takeaways unless the wearers are under 11 or have a health condition.

Anyone caught not wearing one could face fines of £100, but most people seemed to comply with the new measure.

Similar scenes could be seen at supermarkets and the Designer Outlet.

The Link Centre, Oasis Leisure Centre and Buzz Gym amongst others opened for the first time since March and saw plenty of fitness fans arrive safely into the Covid-secure facilities.
