A man accused of leading police on a high-speed chase through Westbury will face a crown court judge next month.
Macauley Collins, 21, of Longfield Road, Trowbridge, entered no pleas to allegations of dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and possession of cocaine.
Prosecutor Nick Barr said it was the Crown’s case that Collins was behind the wheel of a Vauxhall Astra on January 24 this year when police tried to pull him over after seeing him leave a Tesco supermarket in Westbury.
He is accused of speeding away from the officers’ marked car and leading them on a chase that reached almost 90mph before dumping the Astra and trying to hide beneath a duvet at a friend’s house.
Collins was granted unconditional bail by the magistrates to appear before Swindon Crown Court on September 11 for a plea hearing.
The young man spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.
He was represented by solicitor Mark Glendenning.
