The bomb squad has been called Upper Stratton after ‘unknown substances’ were discovered during an arrest.

After arresting a man earlier today in Pinnocks Place on suspicion of conspiracy to import class A drugs, officers found a number of bottles containing the mystery substance. 

Pinnocks Place and part of Ruskin Avenue have been closed by police.

Now the force explosive ordnance disposal teams is now at the site to deal with the bottles. 

Neighbour Lin Peters, 64, said: “All I know is they evacuated all of that. We got told to stay in our gardens. This is a good neighbourhood

Kylie Walklett, 32, said: “I didn’t see the bomb squad at first. I’d just seen one police car parked up. Then my daughter told me there were loads of police round the corner. Then I was told by a passerby someone had been raided.”

Emma Wilson, 44, added: “I’ve never seen anything like it.”

A statement from Wiltshire Police said: "We do not expect a cordon to be required however, residents can expect to see activity at the site this afternoon while this work is ongoing."
