A dog that was given up by his old family is hoping for new home.

Denzil, a Labrador cross-breed, was given up after not getting on with another dog at his previous home.

But new foster carer Ali Pollitt says he's one of the calmest and friendliest dogs she's seen.

She said: "He’s big, but he’s a gentle giant and really well trained. He does pull a bit on the lead if he sees another dog or cat but that’s because he wants to play, not because he’s aggressive.

"He’s just really loving, he’s like my shadow. He’ll follow me around everywhere and want cuddles."

Ali isn't sure why he didn't get on with the other dog, but believes it could have been because they were both male.

She explained: "Maybe it was the alpha male thing but he’s just the softest dog ever.

“People will be put off by his size but they shouldn’t be because he’s really loving."

And when it comes to Denzil's next family, Ali believes he'll be well suited to anyone, so long as they can keep up with him.

She said: "“He likes his exercise, so it will have to be a family that are prepared to give him the exercise that he wants.

"He came from a family with small children so I don’t think there’s an issue with him being around them."
