A charity cycle across England will be taking place next week to raise money for the Darby Rimmer Foundation, starting from the County Ground.

The organisation, set up by former Swindon Town player Stephen Darby and Chris Rimmer, aims to raise funds to treat and cure motor neurone disease.

During Stephen's time at Swindon he helped send the club to the League One play-off final with the winning penalty against Charlton Athletic in 2010.

A total of seven people will leave the County Ground at 9am on Monday, August 17 and will cycle all week before finishing at Bradford City's Valley Parade stadium.

Along the way, the cyclists will stop at Stephen Darby's previous clubs including Liverpool and Bolton Wanderers.

Leading the cycle is Stephen's brother Kevin who is hoping to raise £3,000 from the event.

He said: "We want to raise awareness and raise some funds towards research and support for families of suffers of MND.

"Obviously not everyone's in as fortunate of a position as Stephen's been in so hopefully it'll help people find that support."
