A PAEDOPHILE council worker who took bubble bath to a meeting with a “girl” has been made subject to a sexual harm prevention order.
The order, which will run for life, is intended to limit Michael Bamfield’s interaction with under-18s.
Yesterday, Judge Jason Taylor QC told the 59-year-old: “If you breach that sexual harm prevention order then it’s a separate offence for which you can be imprisoned.”
Last week, he was jailed for two years and nine months. Swindon Crown Court heard the man had been snared in a police operation targeting a nudist website.
Bamfield had chatted online with what he thought was the mother of a 10-year-old girl, eventually arranging to meet them in west Swindon.
Jailing him, Judge Jason Taylor QC said: “You claimed you wouldn’t have followed through and it was all fantasy. Your actions suggest otherwise and I’m sure that had a child been present you would have sought to follow through and that wouldn’t have been limited to just sitting around naked, which is what you tried to make out to the police.
“Notwithstanding the officer was tip-toeing a very fine line [between] enticement and incitement, it is this willingness to follow through that is most worrying in this case.”
