THIEVES assaulted a teenager while robbing him of money and his mobile phone in the town centre.

The 16-year-old suffered what police described as relatively minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.

But his phone and cash were stolen.

The ambulance service responded to a 999 call on Monday night.

Paramedics treated the boy and called officers to the scene of the robbery on Fleming Way around 10.10pm on Monday.

A short while later, police arrested two men aged 23 and 33 on suspicion of robbery.

Both suspects are currently in custody at Gablecross Police Station.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: "We would ask anyone who witnessed the robbery, or anyone who has any information about what happened, to call Swindon CID straight away.

"You should call us on 101.

"Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
