Organisers of the Lydiard fireworks have cancelled the event - usually held at Lydiard Park every November.

In a Facebook post, organiser Neil Hunt said: "We have pondered over the possibility of running the event with short notice but now know this is not possible. We must put the health and lives of others first.

"It would be extremely difficult to manage track/trace and maintain social distancing for the 6,000 spectators who normally attend our event."

He thanked those who had supported the event in the past and said planning for the 2021 event would start "once it was safe to do so".

The event is organised every year by the Swindon and North Wiltshire Scouts.

Swindon Lions, which runs the popular Polo Ground event, has already confirmed that their 2020 display will not go ahead.
