From DJ's to rock bands and successful solo artists, the county has had its fair share of stars:

Gabrielle Aplin

After gaining a huge following for her acoustic covers on Youtube the singer-songwriter from Chippenham signed a record deal in 2012. 

Her parents bought her first guitar for her when she was just 11-years-old and her passion for music sky-rocketed, she later studied music at Bath College.

She rose further to fame in November of that year after covering The Power of Love by Frankie Goes to Hollywood for the John Lewis Christmas advert. 

Her debut album English Rain has been certified Gold in the UK after selling over 100,000 copies.

In 2015 she released her second album which she described as more 'grown-up' than the first and earlier this year she released her third album. 

Billie Piper

At the age of 15, Swindon-born Piper released her debut single "Because We Want To", which made her the youngest artist to enter at number one on the UK Singles Chart.

She has released two studio albums and in 2003 she announced that she was giving up her music career to focus on acting. 

The Olivier Award-winning actress has held numerous roles, one of her most iconic was as Rose Tyler, a companion to The Doctor in Doctor Who.

During her youth, she studied at the Sylvia Young Theatre School and has since become a patron at the Shoebox Theatre in her hometown.

Michael Crawford

Michael Crawford is a successful singer, actor and comedian who has received international critical acclaim and won numerous awards.

As a child, he divided his time between the army camp in Wiltshire, where he and his mother lived during the war, and the Isle of Sheppey off the coast of Kent.

He won a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical and Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his role in The Phantom of the Opera, alongside his then-wife Sarah Brightman. 

Jamie Cullum

The popular jazz-pop singer-songwriter and radio presenter Jamie Cullum has recorded eight studio albums and since 2010 has presented a weekly Tuesday evening jazz show on BBC Radio 2. 

He was brought up in Hullavington and attended the independent Grittleton House School followed by Sheldon School in Chippenham. 

Proud of his Wiltshire roots Cullum has said: "The place is still close to my heart. In many ways, I got my break in Swindon."

The multi-award-winning artist has countless accolades including a MOBO Award, Ronnie Scott's Jazz  Award and Radio Academy Award. 

Peter Gabriel

Peter Gabriel rose to fame as the original lead singer of the progressive rock band Genesis, he later left the band in 1975. 

Since then he has had a successful solo career and is certified trip platinum in the UK and five times platinum in America. 

In 1986 he recorded his first solo album, So, in Ashcombe House in a residential recording facility that he rented for two years. 

He has lived in Wiltshire for many years and runs Real World Studios from Box.
