Renting a shop is often considered to be an expensive decision to make, especially in a town centre and now, thanks to estate agents Rightmove, we can see how much it really costs. 

Rightmove's website currently lists 10 stores available for commercial use in Swindon, but only six of those in the town centre have their prices available for the public to see. 

We've gone through the list and put together the prices and what you could get if you're willing to set up shop. 

Swindon Advertiser:

Former TopShop unit, The Parade - £14,583 per month

Rightmove doesn't list how much the rent would cost per month but per year a renter would be looking at paying £175,000 - which works out at about £14,583 per month. 

For that price you get two floors, both with more than 4,000 square feet, and a prime spot in the centre of the town centre. 

The listing on Rightmove describes the unit as "a modern, double-storey property with full height glazing and sales over two floors" on an 'enviable corner pitch'.

Former Ernest Jones unit, 26 Regent Street - £2,692 per month

This 1,678 square foot unit was previously occupied by jeweller Ernest Jones and is located in between Barclays bank and clothes shop Peacocks. 

Over the course of the year this unit would cost you £32,300 in rent alongside the £19,8850.50 Rightmove lists as the payable business rate. 

The unit is described as "a prime retail unit with sales accommodation on ground floor" located "in a prominent position on the pedestrianised prime retail pitch within the town centre."

Former Nationwide unit, 21 - 25 The Parade - £5,417 per month

Located next to Greggs and opposite H&M, the old Nationwide bank unit is still available. 

It offers 2,044 square feet of retail space on the ground floor plus a further 645 square feet on the first floor and 781 square feet on the second floor. 

Rightmove adds that storage facilities and rear loading is available and is on a 'high footfall pitch'.

Former American Candy unit, 12 - 14 The Parade - £8,125 per month 

Located next to H&M and Savers, this unit offers 2,039 square feet on its ground floor plus 1,975 square feet on the first.

Rightmove describes the unit as "located in one of the best retail locations in Swindon Town Centre, the accommodation provides an excellent retail premise in a fitted out condition."

24 - 26 The Parade - £5,833 per month

This unit is located between Natwest and Clarks, just down from H&M. 

Rightmove describes the ground floor 1991 square foot unit as "located in one of the best retail locations in Swindon town centre" and "provides excellent lock-up retail space in a modern shell unit."

Above Wilko, 6A The Parade - £8,333 per month

Stepping away from the retail area, a leisure unit is also available above Wilko on The Parade. 

Rightmove revealed this unit has never been occupied but can is suitable for a variety of uses. 

With it being above the Wilko store, any visitors would have to climb a set of stairs to reach the 20,000 square feet space but it does have its own escalator and lift.
