A DAREDEVIL who took on 30 challenges before he turns 30 has not let the coronavirus pandemic stop him getting nearer to his goal.

David Gretton, 29 from Park South is completing 30 activities set by friends before he turns 30 in December this year.

“It’s been more difficult to get out to places to do things," said David who completed his thirteenth challenge on World Mental Health Day.

"But now things are calming down a bit I should be able to get back into doing more.

“I’m going to try and do a couple of little ones, to get through a few more of them as time is running out a bit.”

For his last challenge David completed a make-up tutorial on Youtube.

“It went better than I thought,” David said. “I thought I looked ok until I out the eye shadow on. And then it went downhill.”

So far David, who has followers in America, has raised £120 for the charity Mind, which he chose because of his own experiences with mental health issues. He hopes to increase this £1,000 before his birthday.

Future plans include doing the ‘Chubby Bunny’ challenge to see how many marshmallows he can fit in his mouth, as well as several challenges compiled into one.

“I’m going to do as many of the challenges that went viral on Facebook all in one go,” said David.

This will include the cinnamon challenge, trying to put a t-shirt on while doing a hand stand and the ice bucket challenge, among others.

“I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported me, said David. “Even if you’ve been unable to donate, just watching and sharing the videos is enough to keep raising awareness of mental health.

“It’s been good fun doing the challenges, I’ve really enjoyed it. I’ll probably just keep going even when I have got to 30, and just keep adding to it,” he said.
