Elderly people are set for a boost this Christmas as businesses and schools join forces to spread festive cheer.

Home care provider Home Instead Senior Care Swindon has launched their Be a Santa to a Senior campaign, partnering with nine local schools as well as businesses and organisations who will send Christmas cards, crafts and gifts to elderly people in the community.

A spokesperson for the company said: “This year has seen many seniors having to isolate or shield due to the ongoing pandemic, with many not being able to see their family and loved ones for many months.

“Whether you write a letter, make a Christmas card, or craft a Christmas gift, all participation will be gladly appreciated by local seniors this Christmas!”

School children will send ‘Santa-grams’ wishing clients a ‘Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year’ from those within their local community. Businesses and organisations are encouraged to donate of puzzles and activities that can fit into an A4 envelope, to keep elderly people occupied this Christmas.

Donations will be collected in the last week of November.
