AN ARKELL'S pub near Coate Water is doing its bit to feed hungry children this half term.

The Sun Inn on Marlborough Road is offering up free bagged-up packed lunches for children on Thursday from 11am while stocks last.

Heritage Fine Foods and JTS Snacks have confirmed that they will support the pub's efforts by donating a piece of fruit and a packet of crisps to each packed lunch.

Weather permitting, there will be a table outside the pub where families can collet and take away the packed lunches.

Or, from midday, meals from the kids' menu will be free to any children in the pub.

The Sun Inn is one of several Swindon businesses who have been inspired by footballer Marcus Rashford's campaign to end child food poverty.

The Manchester United star is pushing the government to continue giving children entitled to free school meals these lunches during the school holidays, but the government voted against extending the scheme to Easter 2021.
