An Army Air Corps soldier was caught drink driving after a night out shortly before his 21st birthday.

Ryan Seedall, 21, of Linnet Road, Calne, was fined £233 and banned from the roads for 15 months after he admitted driving while over the alcohol limit.

Swindon Magistrates’ Court heard staff at bar where Seedall had been out with his girlfriend on the night of February 28 had called police after he was seen getting into his personalised-plate Mercedes A class.

Police caught up with him on the A4 between Calne and Chippenham. He accepted he’d done wrong then, when taken to the police station, blew a reading of 53 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath.

Luke Jameson, defending, said his client had drunk three pints while out the weekend before his 21st birthday.

He was a member of ground crew for the Army Air Corps and would have to move to different duties as a result of his conviction.

Magistrates ordered he pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge in addiction to his fine and driving ban.
