A woman told police she stole a tracksuit while she was “off her head on drugs”.

Tracy Manser, 30, was caught on CCTV taking the £66 tracksuit from House of Fraser on November 19 last year.

A store detective issued a description of her over the radio and she was spotted by a security guard from another shop.

The House of Fraser guard caught up with Manser, who admitted taking the tracksuit, said she’d hidden it nearby and returned the clothing.

Interviewed by police, she told officers she had been “off her head on drugs” at the time.

Appearing before Swindon Magistrates’ Court via the video link from Gablecross police station, Manser, of Woodshaw Mead, Royal Wootton Bassett, pleaded guilty to theft.

Defending, Gordon Hotson said his client would benefit from support with managing her anger. The probation service recommended a community order with 20 rehabilitation activity days.

District Judge Joanna Dickens imposed a 12 month community order with the recommended rehabilitation days.

She wiped £311 in unpaid costs and fines from Manser’s account with the court.
