A FARM shop has teamed up with Guide Dogs UK to help raise money to fund the training of a puppy.

Dauntsey Farm Shop, on Brinkworth Road, hopes to raise £5,000 as part of Guide Dogs UK’s Name a Puppy scheme. The four-figure-sum will pay for the initial training of a puppy in its journey to become a fully-trained guide dog.

On Saturday, local volunteers and staff from the Dauntsey Farm Shop held a sale in Malmesbury and raised £220 towards their Name a Puppy Scheme.
Despite the inclement weather, the stall was busy with people looking to buy home baking, Christmas gifts and crocheted clothing and to find out more about the scheme.

Janet Smith, leader of the Chippenham and Corsham Guide Dogs branch, said: “Everything had to stop when coronavirus hit and that included the training of guide dog puppies. People had the dogs in their homes for several months before things got back up and running.
“It’s really important we fundraise and the work of the farm shop is so important given that so many fundraising events have been cancelled.”

She added: “The Name a Puppy scheme gives this community the chance to combine efforts and help raise a puppy together.”

Dauntsey Farm Shop have created a grand Christmas raffle to help raise much-needed funds for the Chippenham/Corsham and Malmesbury branch of Guide Dogs UK. Local businesses and retail outlets have donated a variety of raffle prizes.

Beth Rose, of Dauntsey Farm Shop, humbly explained: “We wanted to help and do our bit to help out in any way we could.
“There are loads of prizes for the Christmas raffle already and people have got on board.”
The Christmas raffle will run through November and December at Dauntsey Farm Shop.
