WE'RE looking to find the Covid heroes who have gone the extra mile during this unprecedented year.

The Adver has teamed up with private hire taxi firm V Cars to offer a top prize of a £100 hamper.

We want to recognise the efforts members of the community have made during one of the toughest years in living memory. We’re keen to hear your story and to ensure a happy ending to 2020 for one lucky winner, V Cars will provide the hamper of Christmas treats from local supplier Allington Farm Shop.

Nominees will have the opportunity to have their story featured in the Swindon Advertiser to highlight the work being done by these unsung heroes. They could have created hundreds of masks for the vulnerable and key workers or even just baked loads of cakes. Either way, we want to know.

Adver editor Pete Gavan said: “This is an amazing opportunity to thank those who have worked incredibly hard this year, often for no reward.

“We’ve featured a number of Covid heroes from Ted Jones baking cakes for NHS workers to Jacob Frusher getting on his bike and taking essential shopping items to those in need.

“And we know there are more out there in the town and we want to hear their stories.”

V Cars has done its bit during the pandemic by offering a click-and-collect service for customers, as well as providing a service for takeaway food and medical prescriptions, to help those who were self-isolating or shielding.

Regional director Jack Price said: “V Cars plays a vital role in the local community and we were keen to give something back, when there is understandably so much negative news at the moment.

“So many people have gone above and beyond for others throughout the pandemic or have experienced an even more challenging lockdown than most. The Driver Partners often hear about heroes like these, when talking to passengers, and it was something we were really keen to mark. We feel strongly about supporting local suppliers wherever we can, so this was a natural arrangement for Swindon.”

To enter your nominee just email newsdesk@swindonadvertiser.co.uk by December 4. To be in with a chance of winning, they must be happy to have their picture take and feature in the Adver.
