Rodbourne Road has been lit up for Christmas once again.

The Central North Swindon Parish Council has put up some festive decorations down the street for the second year in a row.

Parish chairman Kevin Small believes it's needed this year more than before.

He said: "We had a great response last year and we even had an official switch-on which was a nice community event.

"It was important that we should do it again this year and it's already been very positive.

"Particularly this year, we won't be having much Christmas cheer because of Covid so anything we can do to brighten the place up and make people feel a bit happier and positive about life should be done."

At the moment the lights are just on Rodbourne Road but Coun Small is hoping to expand it in the future.

He added: "We'd like to go up to the shops and we always want to do Gorse Hill but unfortunately the lampposts there won't hold the lights.

"But it makes Rodbourne a little bit more festive and will hopefully cheer people up.

"I think the people appreciate the effort we've made to make it more Christmassy."
