POLICE stopped and searched a car that was not in a roadworthy condition after people spotted a group acting suspiciously.
Officers received a call just after 4pm about the suspicious activity around homes in Inglesham. The caller passed on the registration number of the suspects' vehicle and officers were sent to investigate.
They stopped the vehicle on the Lechlade to Fairford road and carried out searches of the car and the two male occupants, aged 16 and 19.
The vehicle was found to be not in a roadworthy condition and the driver was issued with a prohibition notice.
This notice means that the vehicle has been removed from the road because of its condition.
The driver is being dealt with for road traffic offences including driving without a valid licence and insurance.
Operation Fortitude Detective Sergeant Alex Spargo said “We would like to thank the eagle-eyed residents who called this in to police so promptly.
"Reports of suspicious activity in our communities is something we would like to encourage people to call in, particularly in the rural areas. This incident highlights how a simple call to police can hopefully prevent crime and provide public reassurance with the swift response and actions taken.”
