AN ALLEGED knifeman was said to have brandished a blade at a man after being confronted in the Brunel Centre.

Rafael Cardoso, 34, is said to have said the words “fat b******” as he passed the man in Swindon town centre on July 25, 2020.

The man followed Cardoso into Boots and Sainsbury’s stores in the Brunel shopping centre before confronting him, it is alleged.

Prosecutor Keith Ballinger said the Brazilian national was accused of pulling a lock knife from his pocket and saying “I’m going to cut you, I’m going to stab you”.

Appearing before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday afternoon, Cardoso, of Theobald Street, town centre, entered no pleas to a charge of making threats with a blade.

He was granted unconditional bail for a plea and trial preparation hearing at Swindon Crown Court on January 8.

Cardoso was represented at the hearing by solicitor Emma Hillier.
