OPINIONS on the future of the Oasis Leisure Centre are wanted.
Labour councillors will be seeking views and answering questions on their Facebook page on Friday, December 4 on what should happen now operator GLL has said it will not reopen the iconic centre.
Group leader Jim Grant said: “If councillors are going to make important decisions affecting residents of this town, they need to be having an ongoing dialogue with those residents. Public opinion needs to inform those decisions and we believe the online surgery is the most effective way of hearing their views under the current Covid-19 restrictions.
“Do you want the Oasis to re-open? Do you think the council should take back ownership? Is it too expensive to run? Should council money be used to so that residents can use leisure facilities affordably? Should another iconic Swindon building be left to dilapidated like the Mechanics’ Institute?
"We want to hear from you on these and the many other questions you may have on the future of the Oasis."
The surgery will begin at 2.30pm but questions can be lodged at facebook.com/labourswindon from noon on Friday. All questions posted by 2.30pm will be answered.
