A TIME has been set for people in North Swindon to join in a community festive lights switch-on.
Mum Anna Blake has created the North Swindon Community Christmas Lights Switch-On Facebook group, where she is organising the event, which will see residents all turning on their lights simultaneously.
She said: “Hopefully this will mark the end of lockdown and will just be a nice way to celebrate it and Christmas, and have a bit of fun.
“Covid has put a stop to many events, including the main Christmas lights switch-on, so this is a chance for communities to have their own.”
The coordinated switch-on will be on December 5 at 6pm.
“I expect I will do a Facebook live countdown and then we can all do it together,” added Anna, of Haydon End.
“There’s nothing to stop people elsewhere joining in. But let’s bring together the community at Christmas by coordinating the switch on of our Christmas decorations.”
