A MAN who dragged a teenager into an alleyway before raping her has been jailed for seven years.

Kieran Brown targeted his victim while she was sitting on a bench in the town centre during Stokesley Show.

The following day he saw his victim again in the street and abused her in a clear case of 'victim blaming' the judge told him.

The teenage victim was left so traumatised by her assault that she turned to drugs and self harm in a desperate attempt to ease her pain, Teesside Crown Court heard.

Brown, who was 17 at the time of the attack in September 2017, was found guilty of rape and sexual activity with a child after he 'lied, lied and lied' throughout his trial.

In a victim impact statement, the teenager said: "Since the rape I have not been able to sleep. I have a recurring nightmare where I see Brown, feel him laughing at me. I’m scared he will come for me and do it again. There is no way of preventing them from occurring.

“I used to be happy and was predicted good grades in my GCSEs. After the rape my grades dropped because I didn’t have the energy to study. I had been looking forward to my prom and doing normal teenage things. I don’t feel normal anymore.”

Judge Recorder Darren Preston sent Brown to a young offenders' institute for seven years after hearing the defendant had just become a father for the first time.

The judge said Brown posed a threat to women and still denied his offending and showed a 'sense of entitlement'.

Brown, 20, of Hebron Road, Stokesley, was also made subject of an indefinite restraining order to keep him away from his victim.
