Swindon recorded 136 new covid cases in the past 24 hours, government figures show.

It brings the case rate for the past seven days to 216.9 new cases per 100,000 people – on a par with the highs seen during the second lockdown in November.

Since the start of the pandemic, 5,262 people have tested positive for the virus in Swindon. The town is in Tier 3.

In the past 24 hours, Wiltshire has recorded 133 new coronavirus cases, giving a case rate for the past seven days of 134.8 per 100,000 people.

Oxfordshire, which is in Tier 4, has seen 314 new cases diagnosed in the past 24 hours. The case rate in the county for the past seven days is more than double that in Wiltshire – at 304.5 new cases per 100,000 people.
