COVID case rates in Swindon’s worst-hit postcodes had more than doubled in the week to December 30, official figures show.

Broad Blunsdon, South Marston and Wanborough recorded a case rate of 692.9 new cases per 100,000 in the seven days to December 30 – up from 270.7 cases per 100,000 in the week to December 23.

At the end of last week, case rates in wards Haydon Wick, Upper Stratton, Covingham, Central East and Walcot West wards had all surged past 600 new cases per 100,000 people.

Walcot East and Gorse Hill were the only areas to record falling case rates.
