More than half the new homes at a housing development near Corsham have now been built, with just six properties remaining for sale.

Developer Bellway South West is building 88 new homes at Dickens Gate, off Bradford Road, Rudloe.

The development includes 56 three and four-bedroom houses for private sale and 32 affordable homes available for local people.

The first plots at Dickens Gate were released for sale in October 2019, and since then 50 properties have been reserved, with 19 families already settled into their new homes.

Building work is expected to be complete by August 2021.

Sales Manager for Bellway South West, Christel Hawkins, said: “It has been lovely to watch a thriving community begin to form at Dickens Gate, with the homes proving popular with a wide variety of buyers so far, including first-time buyers, families, and commuters attracted by key road links, such as the A4 to Bath and Chippenham.

“Many residents here have moved from surrounding cities and towns, with lots of people moving from Bath. Buyers have mentioned they like being part of a smaller community, and have also credited Rudloe for its natural beauty and village charm.

“Corsham is also just a short walk away for all day-to-day needs, and Rudloe itself benefits from a range of amenities too, such as its own football club, a preschool, and a variety of shops.

“We have now finished constructing a central play area at the development for residents and visitors to benefit from too."
