Fire crews from six crews were out in the early hours of Friday morning to tackle a blaze at some farm buildings near Quemerford near Calne.

The Calne crew mobilised at 05.28 to the blaze and when they were en route the fire was upgraded to an agricultural fire.

More fire engines from Devizes Fire Station and Chippenham along with a water carrier from Royal Wootton Bassett were sent to help.

"Once in attendance we found a farm outbuilding well alight," tweeted Calne crew.

Crews worked through the morning to put the flames out and used two main 45mm jets, two hose reel jets and breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.

They also made the building, which was in danger of collapsing, safe.

Quick work stopped further fire spread to adjoining buildings while the Pewsey fire crew stood on standby in Calne.

The cause of the blaze is unknown.
