THESE likely lads are all pupils at The National School in Cainscross, which is now part of the St Matthews Court sheltered housing scheme (main photo). Bottom left: we see King Street in Stroud, with a policeman in the foreground. And bottom right, scouts marching through Stroud. They are coming out of Cheapside and along Rowcroft.
These images are all part of the Museum in the Park’s Wilf Merrett Postcard Collection.
The Wilf Merrett Postcard collection comprises around 3500 postcards depicting the Stroud area throughout the early 20th century.
Wilf was a descendant of Stroud photographers, the Merrett brothers. He collected the work of his family and other local photographers to build his collection.
