A BASINGSTOKE woman is raising money to fund a ‘day of kindness’ in honour of her sister who tragically took her own life on Christmas Eve.

Victoria Jayne Connolly who has been described by her family as a ‘super star’ sadly ended her life on Christmas Eve after struggling for many years with serious mental health issues.

Victoria was ‘the heart of her friends and family’  and a person who made everyone she met feel ‘loved, special and cared for’.

Now her sister Catrina-May is raising money to create ‘a day of kindness’ on her birthday, March 23.

Speaking about her beloved sister, Catrina-May said: “She believed in small, local giving and action- she stopped to chat to people, bought people coffee who couldn't buy their own, gave smiles to strangers, talked to old people on the bus, stuck her tongue out to young kids and laughed that wonderful laugh.

“On her birthday we will give flowers to old ladies, tell people they look beautiful, buy lunch and phone credit for people in need, take chocolates to frontline staff, buy the shopping of the person in front of us, tell a stressed-out mum in town she is doing an amazing job, send someone a pizza, buy a kid a book.”

All donations raised will fund these acts of kindness. The family are also hoping to print small cards to give away at the time of the kind act with Victoria’s picture on.

Incredibly the fundraising page has already exceeded the original £500 target with £1,950 raised the time of writing.
