Patients in Marlborough are not turning up for their second Covid vaccine.

The medical practice in the town says confusion has been caused by recent media reports around rescheduling second vaccinations.

It is urging people to come, saying:

"If you have a Covid vaccination appointment booked with us, please turn up as planned unless we have contacted you to postpone it. Please spread the word, thank you."

The Kennet and Avon Medical Practice in George Lane is also warning about a a fraudulent text message claiming to be from the NHS which states that recipients are eligible to receive the Covid vaccine.

Included in the message is a hyper-link to a fake application form which asks for personal information and a credit card number.

"Please do not click on the link," said a spokesperson. "We will contact you when it's your time for the vaccine and we will NOT ask you to complete any forms."

KAMP has administered the first Covid vaccination to approximately half of over-80 year olds registered with it.

Nationally, about a quarter of this group has been vaccinated, so KAMP is well ahead of the curve.

Clinics are planned to vaccinate the remaining over-80 year olds.

"We are poised to invite patients as soon as we have confirmation of the vaccine delivery date," she added.

"We are asking patients not to call the surgery- we will call them to book their appointment."

KAMP provides regular updates via its Facebook page and website.
