A SUPPOSED shooting saw a firearms squad rush to a Park North street.

Officers received a call at 2pm yesterday claiming a man had been shot in the leg in Radstock Avenue.

A tactical firearms team was sent to deal with the incident but when they got there they found the victim did not have the injury reported.

He was later taken to Great Western Hospital by ambulance.

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: "We were called just after 2pm to reports that a man was claiming to have been shot in the leg in Radstock Avenue, Swindon.

"A tactical firearms team was dispatched, as a precaution, but on further investigation, the man was understood to have not received the injury as originally described and was taken, by ambulance, to the Great Western Hospital."

The spokesman added that there was no further risk to the public.
