Alongside his electric car business, the South African businessman is also the owner of Space-X. A company currently in partnership with NASA to send people back to the moon.

What is Elon's net worth?

According to business website Forbes, Mr Musk's net worth is $182.9bn.

The Space-X company is currently estimated to be valued at $46bn.

The rise to the top of the charts took a boom last year when his net worth rose from $24.6bn in April to almost $200bn today.

Is he the richest man in the world?

Over the past week, Elon Musk has been on and off as the richest man in the world as he continues his battle with Amazon-founder Jeff Bezos.

According to business outlet Bloomberg, as of January 15 2021, Elon Musk is the richest man in the world.

Mr Musk claimed the spot on Friday January 8 but over that weekend Tesla shares dropped and Mr Bezos reclaimed it. The two have been replacing each other since.

However, Amazon-owner Bezos will be investing in Swindon at the new Symmetry Park warehouse.

The developer’s agents said it will be used by the “worlds’ largest online retailer” – all but confirming reports it will be pre-let to Amazon for 20 years as soon as it is completed.
