Jail for banned driver with knife on passenger seat

A drug addict caught driving a purple Toyota while banned from the roads claimed his friend had been behind the wheel – but fled when they saw police.

Lee Turner, who was found with the keys in his pocket and a hunting knife on the passenger seat, was jailed for eight months.

The 32-year-old had been found guilty by magistrates in December of possession of a blade and driving while disqualified.

Dealer caught selling drugs to undercover police 

Former addict Blair Egerton was jailed for four-and-a-half years for supplying drugs to undercover police officers.

Egerton was said to have been in such a bad way last year that he had begged his lawyers to get his case listed so he could be sent inside.

The 33-year-old, who is now on a prescription for a class A drug substitute and has rekindled his relationship with his family, admitted supplying class A drugs and being concerned in supplying drugs.

Bar brawl compared to scene from 'cowboy movie'

Anthony Ballard, 30, was on bail for an earlier attack in Chippenham when he was involved in the 20-man pub brawl at the Old Lane bar, Pewsham, in July 2019.

Jailing the Chippenham man for 27 months at Swindon Crown Court, Judge Peter Crabtree said: “One passing witness who was clearly frightened described it as being like one of the bar brawls in a cowboys movie.”
