AN ECO-FRIENDLY IT company has donated its spare equipment to schools around Wiltshire - and needs your help to supply more.

Green Machine Computers has been supporting charities and small businesses for years with low-to-no cost computer solutions through recycling old technology.

During the pandemic, staff have sent all their spare computers and tablets to schoolchildren who are learning from home but cannot afford or access the devices.

Schools approached the team directly for help after not being allocated enough computers to help all of their students. But the company has now run out of spare supplies and is calling on people in Swindon and Wiltshire to replenish their stock by donating unwanted laptops, desktop computers and tablets.

The team will then refurbish the tech and donate it to pupils in need as part of their effort to tackle digital poverty.

Staff will wipe data from each device they collect as well as reinstall software if needed and repair and upgrade systems to ensure they meet the requirements for online learning.

Anyone who wants to help can post the secondhand technology by boxing it up and sending it to Green Machine Computers, Tech Amnesty, 5 Whittonditch Works, Ramsbury, Wiltshire, SN8 2XB.

Or, drop the items off at a donation point with a contact name and phone number and email address. The nearest ones are:

-Green Labyrinth on 1 Milton Road, SN1 5JE, on weekdays from 9am to 3pm

-Stratton Fire Station, Highworth Road, South Marston, SN3 4QS, from 7pm to 9pm Monday evenings
