Coronavirus case rates in Swindon have fallen to below 100 new cases per 100,000.
In the past seven days, 206 cases have been recorded in the town – giving a case rate of 92.7 per 100,000 people. Last month, parts of Swindon hit highs of almost 700 new cases per 100,000 people.
Official figures show that a further 55 cases were confirmed in the 24 hours to Sunday at 4pm. It brought the total number of cases in Swindon since the pandemic began to 10,312.
In total, 291 people have died of coronavirus – with the virus listed as an official cause of death on their death certificate. In the week ending February 5, the latest week for which figures are available, 11 people lost their life to Covid-19. Deaths spiked in the week ending January 22, when 28 people died from coronavirus.
Death rates remain lower than they were during the first wave of the virus.

At Great Western Hospital, the number of patients being treated with Covid-19 has fallen from highs of around 145 in mid-January to 53 last Tuesday, the latest date for which figures are available.
