MORE than one in three adults in West Oxfordshire have now received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The total figure – 30,951 and growing – has been welcomed by Witney MP Robert Courts.

He said: “The NHS vaccination programme – the biggest in our country’s history – has been a fantastic success story.

“I have been to visit our local vaccination sites in Witney, Carterton, and Chipping Norton, and have been profoundly impressed by the speed in which the vaccines are being rolled out.

“NHS staff and volunteers are working flat out to deliver the vaccines as quickly as possible – and are doing a truly extraordinary job.

“I would like to thank everyone involved in this enormous effort, which is protecting local residents and helping our country to overcome this pandemic.

“I urge everyone contacted by the NHS to come forward to receive their vaccination as soon as possible.

“It is the best way to protect yourself and your community from this virus.”

The national programme is averaging more than two and a half million does a week, with the Government target to have offered every adult in the UK a vaccine by the end of July.
