A MASERATI driver has disputed claims he was doing 100mph.
Chandan Singh, 41, says he was – in fact – driving his Maserati Ghibli saloon down the M4 at 87mph.
Swindon magistrates set the case down for a Newton Hearing, a special hearing at which it will be decided whether Singh should be sentenced on his version of events or the account given by Wiltshire Police.
On Monday, the justices heard that Singh, of Seager Place, Lewisham, had already pleaded guilty by post to a single charge of speeding.
However, he disputed that he had been recorded by a police officer doing 100mph on the M4 on November 21, 2019.
The Newton Hearing will take place on a date to be fixed. Singh was not present at the hearing on Monday afternoon.
