THREE underpasses near Coate Water could be closed and replaced with above-ground road crossings.
Swindon Borough Council made the proposals as part of a plan to improve pedestrian and cycling routes around the town.
These particular underpasses often flood and become unusable when heavy rain hits Swindon.
The local authority hopes to decommission two subways at the Coate Water roundabout that let people pass under Marlborough Road and Queens Drive. A new Toucan crossing on Queens Drive and an existing crossing on Marlborough Road would have to be used instead.
Further along Queens Drive, a subway at Kirby Close and Donnington Grove would be decomissioned and replaced with a Toucan crossing for pedestrians and cyclists.
The council is giving people a chance to have their say on the proposed schemes. For more information and to offer feedback on the Marlborough Road and Queens Drive underpass closures, click here.
