POLICE and ambulance vehicles blocked George Street near GWR Park after a driver suffered a 'serious medical episode' and lost control of his car.

An ambulance and police van filled the narrow road at around 4pm while police and ambulance cars parked up on side-streets.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: "Shortly after 4pm, we were called by ambulance service colleagues to support road closures while they responded to a serious medical incident.

"The driver of the car suffered a serious medical episode which may have resulted in him losing control of his vehicle.

"We left the scene at 5.53pm."

The air ambulance landed in the park at around 4pm and left at 5pm.
