We asked for the people who got you through the last year, and you told us some amazing stories.

This year has been tough, but we are celebrating your everyday heroes and giving them the recognition they deserve.

Jade Young says her friend Tasha Jones has been a 'hero in the community': "She has dealt with my meltdowns, making sure I have everything I need for my three children and myself.

"She has been cleaning for an elderly gentleman, home schooling or taking her children to three different schools with a baby too, and has just been a hero in the community."

Jennie Moss says her husband has got her through a challenging time: "I’ve struggled this last year with health problems as well as the lockdown.

"Nearly dying in October (not Covid) knocked me for six and if it wasn’t for Jason I wouldn’t have got through it."

Leandra Jayne Nourish says "My best friend Marty has gone above and beyond to support me in every single way possible during a really bad time.

"She has made me the strong, happy and independent woman I am today. I am so lucky and privileged to have her in my life."

Sky-Anne Haley says, "My boyfriend, Callum Green. We got together a couple weeks before the first lockdown, so it's been very hard to see each other.

"We've been together throughout it all but he's been there for me when I've needed him the most, making sure I'm happy and laughing, over video call nearly everyday.

"My mum Lorraine Gove has also had to deal with my rants and issues. She has been there to listen when stuff gets a bit too much and gives advice.

"My step dad Martin Edmonds has given me lifts for shopping and appointments at the hospital at short notice.

"He's always helping me out when I needed to get somewhere or with repairs in my flat when something has broken.

"Honestly, I couldn't be more grateful to have my family and partner in my life throughout all of this."

Kelly Mapplethorpe says, "My children Nicole, Jack, Ellie-Mai and Madison-Leigh.

"They been with me every step of the way with my anxiety issues, raised more because of Covid."

Hannah Brooke says, "My partner and our son we’re adopting. He was born a year ago just as the first lockdown hit.

"A tough year but also the best - finally a mum at 35."
