A chicken is taking centre stage for a wannabe Lib Dem councillor keen to go viral with her electioneering campaign.
Devizes East candidate Angelika Davey has enlisted the help of one of her three rescue hens in the hope of raising her social media profile.
“Make a video with your dog or cat, they said,” she explains. “Animals look good in videos. I don’t have a dog or a cat, but I do have chickens.”
Angelika, originally from Germany and has lived in Devizes since 1988, said the idea to include an animal in the video came from the Wiltshire Lib Dems.
"I don't know what sort of chicken she is as for the last few years we've been getting rescue hens from the British Hen Welfare Trust.
"We never name them because the original plan was to eat them when they stop laying, but we never do. They all live out a happy retirement with us!"
Elections to Wiltshire Council take place on May 6.
Chickens do not have the vote.
