WOODFIRED pizza and Prosecco will be served from a transformed rice horse trailer after a mum and daughter teamed up to start a new business.

Chloe Kirwan and her mum Debbie Clark wanted to find a way to spend more time together after a year apart through lockdown – so they bought the revamped trailer and founded The Bubbly Pizza Co.

They plan to take it to events and celebrations around the south west this summer as restrictions continue to ease in line with the government roadmap.

Chloe, 32, said: “It’s a vintage horse box trailer converted to a mobile bar and pizza service. We’re going to be going around to weddings, birthdays, garden parties and charity events.

“We’re just going through the formal processes now and finalising everything before we take on our first event. We hope to be up and running properly by May this year.

“Me and my mum have been talking about doing something like this for a while. She used to be in the catering industry many years ago, and I’ve worked in catering and hospitality all my life. We love doing events, we’ve done charity events over the years. We wanted to do something that meant we had more quality time together, and to get us out more to see some beautiful places while offering something unique.”

Debbie had a fish and chip van 30 years ago and Chloe has worked in various hotels and bars.

“We didn’t want to do what everyone else was doing, after doing some research it seems there aren’t many converted trailer boxes around the south west,” Chloe added.

“It just seemed niche, new and exciting, it seemed like the right direction to go down.

This year is going to be a really good year for small independent businesses if lockdown does lift and we continue with the roadmap that we’re on.

“People aren’t going to be going abroad on holidays so it means they’ll be spending a lot more time in the UK. Everyone has missed their friends and family, they will want to go out and celebrate when they can, so we feel like there’s more of a captive audience this year than any other year. I think it’s the best time to start a business because people want to support local businesses.”

The Bubbly Pizza Co already has a couple of weddings booked in for later in the year and is possibly going to be part of a charity event in July.

After the pair shared the news of the company being launched they were overwhelmed by the positive response.

Chloe said: “It’s been amazing, everybody is wowed by how beautiful and unique it is.

Lots of people have said they want it for garden events this year, so hopefully we will be travelling a lot.”
