THE inSwindon BID launched a new community-focused campaign #GrowSwindon to brighten up the town centre.

The project has seen a new Mother Earth with Flower of Life mural created by local artists Peter Cowdy and Dayna Baxte ralong the Brunel West car park wall facing Wharf Green and 12 new planters full of flowers pop up around the high street.

Peter Cowdy said: “I have loved painting this wall and particularly enjoyed the theme of growth which fits perfectly at Wharf Green, surrounded by trees.

"We have been overwhelmed by the support we received from passers-by, as well as the local pigeon population who sang to us all week.

"A special thanks to inSwindon BID, who's vision and drive to make these projects happen is helping slowly transform our town and inspire creativity from all who live here.”

A band welcomed shoppers back to the town centre on Monday, more activities and events are planned for the campaign.

These will include more massive murals, new hanging baskets, art trails and exhibitions, and festive lights.

Manager Anita Bellinger said: "As we gently and carefully ease our way into a brighter year, we are encouraging our gifted local groups to join us and celebrate the spirit and hope of our Swindon community.

"Our town centre needs support, and inSwindon BID is bringing everyone together to produce the perfect opportunity to #LoveLocal."
