THE race is on to grow the largest sunflower in Haydon Wick.
Green-fingered folk are being invited to go to the parish council offices in Thames Avenue to sign up for The Great Haydon Wick Grow Off on Monday between 4.30pm and 5.30pm.
A spokesperson for the parish council said: “Anyone is welcome to take part in this community competition – the more the merrier. You just need somewhere to plant and grow your sunflowers.”
The event will take place outside the offices and everyone will need to social distance and wear a mask.
Once people have signed up they can plant their seeds and watch the flowers grow.
Measurements and pictures of the sunflower should be sent in by August 30 for a chance to win a prize.
