THE first students of Swindon and Wiltshire Institute of Technology will be welcomed this autumn as work to transform the buildings is going full steam ahead.

Renovations are currently being made to transform two existing buildings on the North Star Campus, which include the iconic Pegasus Tower and the Engineering centre.

Chris Baish, managing director of the IoT, said: “We’re extremely pleased with progress towards making the Swindon and Wiltshire IoT a reality, both on-site and behind the scenes.

“This is a big deal in terms of creating opportunities for students and employers in Swindon and the surrounding area, so I’m pleased to report that we’re on track to start courses from September onwards.

"The site at the North Star campus is undergoing a major refurbishment as we speak, bringing it right up to date with industry-standard facilities including cyber labs and media suites that have been developed with our employer and university partners. It’s really exciting to see it all coming together on site, and we can’t wait to be able to welcome students in the autumn.”

It will respond to business needs, identifying current skills gaps and supporting future developments in Swindon and Wiltshire.

They are urging businesses to get in touch if they're looking to recruit new starters or to upskill existing staff.
