MORE details of the plans to build a new pre-school building in Alderbury have been revealed.
The outline application was granted in November 2018 - and more detailed plans have mow been submitted for approval.
The school will be adjacent to Alderbury and West Grinstead Primary School and will use the same access as the school from Firs Road.
The existing pre-school building consists of a portacabin located at the south-west boundary of the site, and has the capacity for 29 children.
Firs Road
The plans are linked to the application to build 50 homes on land off Firs Road.
A planning statement submitted with the plans says: "The site is situated within a sustainable location with access to a range of services and amenities.
"These include a primary school, pre-school, social club, village store, village hall, recreation ground, allotments and business park.
"The site is well served by public transport links with regularly departing bus services to and from Salisbury.
"Future residents will therefore have easy access to services and facilities, including shops, employment and education.
"This was confirmed in the outline appeal decision which stated: ‘The appeal site is sustainable in transport terms and the proposal would not conflict with any policies in respect of accessibility, including those aimed at reducing the need to travel by car; Alderbury has a good level of services for a Large Village’"
Community involvement
The planning statement ads that the need for a new pre-school building was established during the lead up to and during the course of the outline application, and says that at the appeal stage a letter from the managers of the pre-school and indicative plans for a new preschool building were submitted to the Planning Inspector.
The Headmaster of Alderbury and West Grimstead Primary School, the owners of Alderbury Preschool and 1st Alderbury Girl Guides have also been directly contacted to facilitate discussion of
the new pre-school and guide hut provision.
