A CONSTRUCTION firm boss who continued to manage the business in spite of a company director disqualification will be sentenced later this summer.

Richard David Brown, 72, agreed in 2011 not to act as a director for six years after his firm Richard Brown Homes Ltd went into administration.

That was extended to 11 years in 2017, after an Insolvency Service probe found he’d continued to run Door Stores (Swindon) Ltd. The firm, registered in Old Town, went into administration owing HMRC almost £200,000.

Co-directors Richard Edward Brown, 37, and Alan Roche, 56, agreed with the government they would not act as a company director for three-and-a-half years.

At Swindon Crown Court on Friday all three men admitted charges relating to their running of Door Stores and another firm, Fire Secured Door Sets Ltd.

Richard David Brown, of Cheney Manor Road, pleaded guilty to acting in contravention of disqualification undertakings between 2011 and 2019.

Alan Roche, of Whitmore Close, The Prinnels, admitted acting as a director despite being an undischarged bankrupt and aiding and abetting Richard David Brown to contravene a disqualification undertaking between June 2014 and August 2015.

He denied other charges of aiding and abetting the contravention of a disqualification undertaking and contravening a disqualification undertaking himself.

Richard Edward Brown, of Cheney Manor Road, pleaded guilty to helping undischarged bankrupt Roche manage Door Stores (Swindon) Ltd and helping Brown Snr to act in contravention of a disqualification undertaking. He denied another aiding and abetting charge.

The prosecution offered no evidence against Jamie Brown, 49, of Cheney Manor Road. He had pleaded not guilty to two aiding and abetting charges.

Judge Jason Taylor QC bailed the men to a date to be fixed. It is expected they will be sentenced in July.
