TONIGHT (May 17) will see the first full city council meeting held after this month's elections.

The authority is now made up of 11 Conservative, six Labour and six Liberal Democrat councillors and one Independent.

Compared to the previous Local Election result in 2017, the Conservatives have lost four seats, Labour has gained one, Liberal Democrats gained five and the one Independent seat was retained, but by a different candidate.

With the Conservatives no longer holding the majority, newly elected members have celebrated the want for change.

The only meaningful item on the agenda for tonight's meeting is Mayor Making - with Caroline and Tom Corbin to be elected mayor and vice-mayor respectively.

John Walsh was in the role for 12 months longer than he should have been, with his term extended due to the pandemic.

There will also be time for public questions or statements, and councillor questions/statements.
