HEAVY hailstones crashed to the ground as thunder boomed and lightning flashed over Swindon earlier today.
Old Town and the town centre saw a sudden burst of dramatic weather at 2pm.
The downpour came during an otherwise-unremarkable afternoon of light rain and the occasional glimpse of sunshine from behind cloud cover.
The hail and storms stopped almost as suddenly as they arrived at around 2.30pm.
