RESTAURANTS and coffee shops in the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet are fully open again.

After welcoming customers back to the shops a few weeks ago and offering takeaway meals, the massive retail destination has reopened its food quarter by the north entrance and food court near Giraffe and Krispy Kreme in the centre of the centre.

Customers visiting Costa, Starbucks, KFC, Five Guys, Subway, Wagamama, Pizza Express, Giraffe World Kitchen and Krispy Kreme can now dine-in safely.

Expansions for Five Guys and Wagamamas were finished just before lockdown started but have not had much chance to be used until now.

Hand sanitiser stations are set up all over the outlet and check-in points for the Test and Trace app are on every table in the food quarter as well as its entrance.

A one-way system for the food quarter sends guests past Five Guys and the enormous locomotive that sits near the north entrance and visitors enter the space next to KFC.

Centre manager Tina Cumpstey said: "We've had a very good five weeks, sales have been high.

"As for the next phase for us, opening the indoor element - we've had some challenges, with the weather not being ideal for eating outside - so to have dining inside, it completes the experience for people.

"We were very busy at lunchtime and it's just great to see people meeting other people and having a coffee. It's been alien for people to do that for so long, so when we opened today people went straight to the coffee shops, it's lovely to see.

"They're really keen to come out and have some human interaction. It's a real opportunity for brick-and-mortar retail with a real experience and a safe environment.
